The Texas DMV has enacted new identification requirements for vehicle registration
Applicants completing registrations must provide identification that verifies legal presence in the United States. The new ID requirements for initial registration take effect on March 5, 2026. The new ID requirements for registration renewals do not take effect until January 1, 2027.
